Mosquito repellent for the children's room
June 19, 2024 Windesa
As soon as the days get longer and warmer again, the annoying mosquitoes are back. Human smells magically attract the pests; they sting, suck blood and leave an itchy mosquito bite. Children in particular suffer from this. It is therefore advisable to install good mosquito protection in the bedrooms and living rooms, but especially in the children's room.
Why do children in particular need effective mosquito protection?
The human body reacts to the mosquito poison by forming an itchy wheal. For children in particular, the constant itching causes increased stress; they scratch the bites and inflammation may occur. Often the little ones can no longer rest at night. There are various ways to keep mosquitoes out of the children's room:
- Fly nets on the windows
- Insect screen
- Mosquito nets over the bed
- Chemical mosquito control
Ideal mosquito protection in the children's room
You should definitely avoid chemical mosquito control. There are environmentally friendly and safe ways to protect little ones from mosquito bites, especially in children's rooms. For example, a mosquito net that can be hung over the bed is very effective. In addition, you should also provide windows and doors that lead outside with fly nets or fly screens, as the family magazine Parents recommends, for example.
Fly nets as mosquito protection in children's rooms
Fly nets are available in almost every hardware store. These are fine white or black nets that are stuck into the window frame with an adhesive strip including Velcro. Depending on the material, the mesh makes the room a little darker. In addition, the durability of the nets is limited. The adhesive strips dry out, the Velcro fastener becomes clogged with dust and no longer holds the net reliably, or the net becomes brittle due to the effects of the weather. Most fly nets need to be replaced after one to two years.
Perfect alternative: fly screens
A perfect mosquito and fly repellent such as the WinClip Bug is made to measure. This variant is a little more expensive, but it pays off with its durability, high-quality mesh material and absolute fit. Even for doors and windows that do not correspond to standard dimensions, a fly screen is made to measure by a specialist. The particularly fine and translucent nets reliably prevent even the smallest black flies and arachnids from entering the room.
