Car privacy screen: it protects what is important to you
March 28, 2025 Windesa
You transport important things in your car: your children on the way to football training or on holiday, work materials or personal shopping. Here you can find out what options you have for privacy screens in your car and what you need to bear in mind.
What are the differences between car privacy screens and what is the quickest way to install them?
First and foremost, a privacy screen in the car means protecting your privacy. There are various scenarios in which a privacy screen for cars is important.
For example
- on holiday, when you want your children to sleep peacefully in the back seat.
- on a business trip, when important materials should not be directly visible.
- for spontaneous occasions when you want to sleep in the car for a night on the way south to arrive early at your long-awaited holiday destination.
- in all cases when you want to protect the interior of your car from theft.
You can find the answers here:
Privacy screen vs. sun protection?
You don't necessarily have to choose between sun protection and privacy protection. There are privacy screens that are slightly translucent and primarily protect against the sun with a protective grille. This does not provide complete privacy from close up, but from a distance these screens look like tinted window panes. One advantage of these screens: They can also remain attached while driving. Thanks to the permeability, the driver can still see all sides of the road.
The impermeable, opaque protection is like a curtain for your car windows. It also serves as sun protection, but is not permitted when closed and must be removed or pushed up while driving. You can read more about this on the fines catalogue page, for example.
Flexible privacy screen in the car
We know it from caravans and motorhomes: Curtains and blinds are a reliable privacy screen when travelling. However, you don't have to retrofit curtain rails to install a privacy screen in your car. There are good and flexible alternatives, such as systems with suction cups or clamp-on sun blinds, which can be attached quickly and removed again if necessary without leaving permanent marks on the vehicle.
Curtains with suction cups - not to everyone's taste
You can attach curtains to the windows using suction cups to provide privacy at night. On the back seat, these are a pleasant invitation to relax and protect yourself from the sun, even during long car journeys. The biggest advantage of such curtains is that they are opaque. If they are permanently closed, the interior of the car does not heat up too much. The disadvantage is that the suction power can decrease with increasing use. This is why suction cups are not everyone's favourite.
Car privacy screen for clamping
Sun visors with protective grilles, on the other hand, allow some light into the car. Although this means it is not completely dark in the car, it is still possible for passengers to read something and the strong heating on hot days is still avoided. This protection can remain on the windscreen while driving. They are practical to install: the thin wire screens can be attached to the windscreen from the inside using clips. This allows a fresh breeze to enter the car when the window is open.
For complete sun and privacy protection, sun visors tailored to your vehicle are available. You can then clamp the appropriate sun protection elements into the small windows in the boot and the rear windows without any brackets, thus protecting the entire rear area of your car.
Advantages of a flexible privacy screen in the car
Some of the advantages of privacy screens have already been mentioned. Here is another overview:
- No residue on the vehicle
- Flexible installation
- Protection from prying eyes
- Prevents the interior from heating up
- Protection from the sun's rays and insects
